Fusion Trikes

Fusion Trikes is a South African company  that designs and builds car and bike engined trikes from scratch, using mostly locally available parts. They don't do Harley or Gold Wing bolt-ons and  concentrate on superbikes and front-mounted car engined  trikes.

Fusion Trikes has a trike to suit everyone's needs, age, physical condition and affordability. They offer the following terms (besides cash): 50% deposit with order, 25% on production of a rolling chassis and 25% on completion. Initial production will take about 2-3 months while they set up jigs and work slowly to make sure everything is perfect, but they plan to be building 2-4 trikes a month by the middle of this year.

Their range includes long distance tourers with large fuel tanks, high performance sports trikes, daily commuters, weekend leisure trikes, chopper trikes, boulevard cruisers and multipurpose delivery trikes (one delivery trike replaces about 6 delivery scooters with a huge reduction in costs). In other words, something for everyone!

The Fusion bike trikes are all shaft driven and donor bikes include Suzuki, Yamaha and Kawasaki cruisers and superbikes, BMW road bikes, Vmaxes and Triumph Rocket 3's. Customers can also provide their own bikes for conversion.

Car engined trikes can carry from one person to four. Engine options range from 4-cylinder 1200cc, 1400cc, 1600cc, 1800cc, 2.0L, 2.2L and 2.5L, to 2.5L and 3.0L V6's and V8's up to 6.0L. These include mainly Rover, Subaru, Nissan and Honda, although other makes are always up for consideration if a client wants something specific.

The smallest trike the company builds is an 850cc shaft drive (Suzuki).

All   trikes are built on a basic platform and the client is allowed to specify many custom features, so no two end up looking the same - unless the client wants a "his and hers" pair.

During the recession the company was forced to close their doors temporarily, due to financial constraints. At present the company only builds trikes to order, but will have a range of trikes for display and demo by the second half of 2012.

Target Market

Fusion Trikes' target market is varied. Older bikers are a good market, because they can get an extra 10-15 years' riding with a trike. Overseas, most trikers are in this age group, but Fusion Trikes wants to build trikes for all age groups.

Wives, girlfriends and anyone who hates riding pillion can ride a trike safely and securely. They can even take up to 3 kids with them so the whole family gets an outing together.

Disabled bikers can also get a trike with hand controls so they can get out on the road again with their mates.

Companies with high expenses relating to delivery scooters, drivers' wages, accident damage, workman's compensation and insurance costs, fuel, licensing, longer trips and slower service because of having to come back to the depot or to refuel often, are potential customers.

Several praiseworthy articles have been written by well known motoring journalists . They have a Youtube video of their Vmax trike as seen on BikeSA TV (Donovan Fourie didn't want to get off it, he was having such a good time) and a personal email from Brand Pretorius, CEO of the McCarthy Motor Group (now retired) congratulates Fusion Trikes on "their beautiful designs and outstanding craftsmanship".

You can watch the video at this link:

A lot of interest has been shown in Fusion Trikes by the public. The fact that when Paul von Wildenrath, the CEO and founder of Fusion Trikes, was featured on Leigh Benny's Friday night show on Radio 702 the switchboard was fully lit with calls and sms's, bears testimony to this.

 License

A big bike license (and a helmet) is all you need for a trike.  License and roadworthy is no problem. (You don't need a helmet to ride a trike with roll bars and seat belts).

 Project - Isuzu

A project idea was suggested to the company to build a trike for a promotions company using a battered Isuzu bakkie. The cost would be at roughly R207 500 to R250 000. The finished trike will be worth R295,000 to R350,000. Remember, everything is hand built.

Petrol driven vehicles are preferred and can have a manual or automatic gearbox. With an auto box you don't have to take your hands off the handlebars to change gears. Independent suspension offers a more comfortable ride, and live suspension is better for fast cornering and for delivery trikes. The trike can have 1, 2, 3 or 4 seats. The frame style can be a Chopper, Sport, Hot Rod, Bakkie or Cruiser.

You may further customize your trike by choosing to have a roof. A covered trike is more expensive as there is much more work and more parts involved, but your comfort levels increase greatly. A sexy boot and windshield can also be added.

A covered trike has minimum bodywork and weight, still weighing around a third of that of a car. The addition of a boot will allow you to go to work, go shopping, pick up the kids from school (how cool would that be!), and go away for holidays - eg: to rallies - on the trike. You will be able to choose your own paint colour (please, no pink!), wheel type, handlebar design, mag wheels and more, to make the trike exclusively yours.

Every Fusion Trike comes with a unique name and a birth certificate! Wow!

Staff needed

With a variety of frame designs and with everything being hand built, Fusion Trikes needs teams of workers to build different trikes. They are looking for a skilled car and bike mechanic and an excellent MIG and gas welder and sheet metal worker. This could be one person with all the required skills (preferred for now) or two people. They also need an excellent auto electrician.

The company is looking for workers who are prepared to grow with the company and to start on a "pay per trike" basis until in full production then full time employment will be offered. In the meanwhile, the more trikes they build, the more they earn. Must be good tradesmen. There will be a profit sharing program offered to loyal, hard working, trustworthy and reliable staff after they have proven themselves to the company.

Workshop

The company has a home in Pretoria East which is ideal in that it already has two car lifts,  an office,  a basement storage area and a washbay.

Advertising Platform

Fusion Trikes is willing to run promotional ads on a trike for Motorcycle companies at shows and rallies! One trike can carry up to 7 advertisements, depending on the design. The advertising is interchangeable and is billed monthly. Companies can also buy a Fusion trike and pay once and run ads permanently for the next 10 or more years at no extra cost! AND still get the use of the trike as a courtesy vehicle or delivery trike. The ads are constantly on the move as the trike is ridden everywhere, every day, and will certainly attract LOTS of attention. Get your orders in at least 4 months in advance!

Trike Owners Group.

A Trike Owners Group (with its own mascot) that is open to all trike owners and Fusion Trike customers has been set up. Customers will automatically receive membership for one year.

The company plans to do on-going community work with demo trikes and to use them to raise money for charities.

Sponsorships and Investors Sought

The company has a Jag XJ6 with a V8 engine and auto box that they are looking for sponsorship in order to convert it into a show-stopping luxury cruiser / roadrunner. Half of the costs of parts is already financed. The company needs someone to order it so the build can be completed. It's going to be GORGEOUS!

The company is looking for private shareholders to help boost production and offers above average returns with an excellent exit strategy 2-3 years down the line. Paul is offering a generous shareholding for a fixed period of time, or until the investors have earned an agreed minimum percentage on their investment/s.
